The Suwon Center for Traditional Culture is looking to host a new online learning program “The Taste of Different Traditions” with classes every Friday until September.
The new program was created by the Center to replace face-to-face learning programs due to ongoing daily social distancing protocols in effect as the COVID-19 continues to threaten our communities. The Center will upload a total of 12 cooking class videos focusing on three different eating cultures on its official YouTube channel, free-of-charge.
The Center will also release four episodes on “Fusion Korean Cuisine,” which viewers can try themselves at home. With clear-cut instructions on how to make Mongolian steak, garlic soy sauce, savory sesame leaf and wheat wrap, shabu-shabu pork salad, beef brisket and buckwheat noodles that are easy for everyone to follow, the learning program is expected to be a great choice for novice home chefs always on the lookout for tasty dishes to cook every day.
The learning program will also feature traditional dishes, including “Gungjung Naengmyeon,” which was a personal favorite of Emperor Gojong, “Gungjung Tteokbokki” cooked without red pepper paste, “Seolyamyeokjeok” using Bulgogi, and some refreshing and crunchy “Seokbakji.” The series will help people understand and use traditional recipes and ingredients, which are typically enjoyed at restaurants rather than at home, and try their hand at cooking them on their own.
