『정리의궤』 「행궁전도」를 보면 별주 권역에 담장이 둘러 있고 연못은 존재하지 않는다. 그러나 『화성성역의궤』의 「화성전도」와 19세기에 그려진 「화성전도」에는 담장이 사라지고 연못이 등장하여 별주 권역에 변화가 있었던 것으로 추정된다. 2019년의 발굴조사에서 19세기 「화성전도」와 같은 형태로 연못 1기가 확인되었는데 두 면이 유실된 상태였다. 연못은 발굴조사 결과를 참고하여 부정형으로 복원하였다.

Pond of the Detached Kitchen

This pond located in front of the detached kitchen of the temporary palace is presumed to have been built between 1793 and 1800. Historical records published circa 1800 do not depict the pond, but those from later in the nineteenth century do, suggesting that the area underwent a change at some point. The structural remains of the pond were discovered during excavations conducted in 2019, and, based on the findings, the pond was reconstructed in 2023.
