Treasure No. 1709 (designated on March 3, 2011)
Constructed on October 19, 1794, in the 18th year of King Jeongjo’s reign, Suwon Banghwasuryujeong served multiple functions, including those of a watchtower, a command post and a pavilion. As a pavillion, it was in harmony with the natural surroundings and thus was named with the meaning, “a pavilion chasing after flowers and floating along with willow branches.” The pavilion is said to be the most beautiful and unique structure of Hwaseong Fortress.
