The 53rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival was selected as ‘2016 Proud Local Festival’. This awards ceremony evaluated more than 2000 domestic local festivals and selected 12 outstanding festivals.
The 53rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival was held under the theme “In-in hwarak_communication, sharing, empathy”. King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade to his father’s tomb reenacted by Seoul and Suwon is the largest royal military parade in the capital area, and was recognized for its potential to grow and develop into a world-class tourism festival. It was broadcasted live in real time for the benefit of domestic and foreign tourists who are interested in Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival as well as the visitors to the festival, thus confirming its status as one of the most enjoyable and open festivals.
The conferring of this award has confirmed that the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival held at the World Heritage Site, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, is becoming one of the leading festivals in Korea, utilizing Suwon’s differentiated cultural resources and human resources. |
