Suwon Cultural Foundation

Bijang was a staff member who accompanied local officers like Gwanchalsa or Jeoldosa. In the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty, it became a custom for various levels of officers to be accompanied by a Bijang. Bijangcheong was the place for Bijang and faces the south. It was constructed in 1789 as a Seoricheong but remodeled as a Bijangcheong in 1796.
